Who is my lender?
Sunlight works with multiple lenders. The lender that funds your loan will depend on factors including your geographic location, the loan product you have applied for, and your credit profile. The lender will be determined after you submit a credit application. You can identify the lender that is funding your loan before you sign the loan agreement when you review the loan documents and on your solar loan bill.
Does my customer pay Sunlight directly?
- No, your customer does not pay Sunlight directly. Sunlight only facilitates loans for the customer and the applicable lender.
- The lender for your customer’s loan is noted on the first page of the Loan Agreement. Monthly payments will be made to the lender.
- Your customer will receive a welcome package from the lender before their first monthly payment is due.
When will payments be due?
Solar:
- The customer’s first monthly payment will be due 60 days after the solar system is installed. The first payment may be due before the customer has received Permission to Operate (PTO) and the customer may be required to make payments before their system is turned on.
Home Improvement:
- Contractors on multi-draw: the customer’s first monthly payment will be due 90 days after the customer authorizes the initial payment to the contractor.
- Contractors on single draw: the customer’s first monthly payment will be due 30 days after the customer authorizes the initial payment to the contractor.
The payment due date and other relevant payment information is provided in the welcome package delivered to the customer.
Can my customer pick their payment date?
- Please note that the lender cannot adjust timing of the monthly payment based on the customer’s preference. The payment date will be determined solely based on when Sunlight receives notification that the system is installed.
Can my customer payoff the loan early?
- Sunlight loans do not have a prepayment penalty. The customer can request the lender to provide payoff information if and when they need.
Where does my customer get their balance and invoices?
- Once the loan is booked, the customer will receive invoices directly from the lender.
