Sunlight Rewards® FAQs for Solar
The industry's first and only loyalty program which rewards you for selling Solar!
What do I need to know?
Sunlight Rewards® is a loyalty program that awards individual sales reps for choosing Sunlight Financial. The more loans you sell through Sunlight in a twelve-month earning period, the more points you’ll earn – and those points can be redeemed for awesome prizes! The earning period goes from January 1 - December 31. Your Sunlight Rewards® status is determined by the number of projects approved in an earning period. You can earn 2X, 5X, and 10X points per project by leveling your status.
To participate in Sunlight Rewards®, you must provide your legal first and last name. Members who earn an equivalent of $600 or more in Sunlight Rewards® value will be required by the IRS to provide their social security number. Participating members are prohibited from sharing accounts. If your account is used to pool points with others it may be deactivated. Your company must be in good standing in order for your Sunlight Rewards® account to remain active. If your company goes out of business or chooses to opt out of Sunlight Rewards®, your account may be deactivated. To keep hard-earned points from expiring, members must earn points at least every six months by submitting a qualifying deal. For solar rewards, points are earned when projects reach installation approval. For home improvement, points are earned when projects reach first payment approval.
How do I sign up for Sunlight Rewards®?
- Click the button at the top of your home menu that says “Join Rewards and Start Earning” and follow the instructions to enroll. Review the Terms and Conditions to learn more about the program.
- After you accept the Terms and Conditions, you will receive a welcome email from contactus@sunlightfinancialrewards.com. Click the “Create Rewards Login” button to set up your account password. Bookmark this page for easy access to your points balance, prize options, and more.
How does Sunlight Rewards® work for solar partners?
- You earn points when your deals reach installation approval. The number of points earned per approved installed project depends on your Sunlight Rewards® status.
- Members start at Silver status earning 5,000 points per project that reaches installation approval.
- Your Sunlight Rewards® status is based on the number of projects that reach installation approval during the twelve-month earning period (Jan - Dec).
- The status you earn at the end of an earning period will roll over to the next twelve-month earning period.
- Earn 30,000 bonus points after you third Sunlight project reaches installation approval.
When will I earn points?
Points are distributed when a project reaches installation approval. You can track your point progress in Orange® by logging into your Sunlight Rewards® Profile and navigating to the History tab. You will also receive an email from the Sunlight Rewards® team each time you earn points.
If you submit deals through your company’s portal or a proposal tool, log in to the Sunlight Rewards® portal. Navigate to “Reports” and then click on the “My Earnings Report” button to view your deals. You will also receive an email from the Sunlight Rewards® team each time you earn points.
Are there other bonus opportunities and will my status multiplier affect how much I can earn during a bonus?
We run promotions and bonus opportunities to help you earn more! Check your email inbox for limited-time bonus offers. Navigate to your Sunlight Rewards® Profile for a list of available bonuses and bonuses you've earned. Bonuses are not calculated based on your rewards status.
What if I am a home improvement partner?
If you sell home improvement projects through Sunlight, you may be eligible to participate in Sunlight Rewards®. If your company is participating, there will be a button at the top of your home menu that says “Join Rewards and Start Earning.” Click that button and follow the instructions to enroll.
You will receive an email from contactus@sunlightfinancialrewards.com to create your Sunlight Rewards® portal login.
If you cannot find this email, please contact sunlightrewards@sunlightfinancial.com. Please note only home improvement users that launched without a referral partner are eligible to participate in Sunlight Rewards®.
How does Sunlight Rewards® work for home improvement partners?
- Points are deposited when your projects reach first payment approval.
- The number of points earned per project depends on your Sunlight Rewards® status.
- Earn a base of 160 points (X your status multiplier) per thousand dollars of the loan amount (rounded down).
- Your Sunlight Rewards® status is based on the dollar value of loans that reach first payment approval in an earning period. The earning period goes from January 1 - December 31.
- The status you end the earning period with will roll over to the next twelve-month earning period.
- Earn 15,000 bonus points after your third Sunlight project reaches first payment approval.
What if I sell both solar and home improvement loans through Sunlight?
Your solar and home improvement points will be tracked through a single Sunlight Rewards® account. There are two ways you can view your Sunlight Rewards® profile in the Orange® portal. First, by clicking the Sunlight Rewards® button on your home menu.
Second, by clicking the gift icon below the leaderboard on your sales or ops dashboards.
I have been working with Sunlight and just signed up for Sunlight Rewards®. Can I get credit for my previous sales?
You will not receive points for projects that reached installation approval before you accepted the Terms and Conditions of the Sunlight Rewards® program. When you enroll into the program, points from Sunlight projects will be added to your account automatically when projects reach installation approval.
I’m already enrolled in Sunlight Rewards® and it seems like my balance may be incorrect?
Your balance at the top of your Orange® dashboard will show the points you have earned minus any redemptions. To view your current points balance (total points earned minus any redemptions for prizes), click on the gift icon to access your Sunlight Rewards® Profile, then click “SHOP WITH POINTS”. Log in to your Sunlight Rewards® portal then click on reports > “My Earnings Report” to see a summary. You may also contact Sunlight Rewards®.

Does Sunlight Rewards® affect my taxes?
Sunlight Rewards® may affect your taxes. If your total redemptions for the taxable year exceed $600 (120,000+ points), the IRS requires that you state the rewards value as part of your taxable earnings. Once you earn over $600 worth of rewards points, Sunlight will ask you to provide some additional information (including your address and SSN) so we can provide you with a 1099 statement. You will not be able to redeem points in the Sunlight Rewards® portal until this information is provided. Please note, Sunlight is not a tax advisor and cannot provide individual tax advice. Any questions regarding the impact of your participation in the Sunlight Rewards® program on your taxes should be directed to your tax advisor*.
*Sunlight requires each user has their own individual Orange® account, this ensures each user manages their own tax liability.
Do points expire?
Yes, your points will expire if you have not earned new points in 180 days (six months). You will receive an email notification 30 days before your points expire. Be sure to keep your account active by submitting installation approvals every six-months.
When does Sunlight Rewards® end?
The program is currently ongoing, but Sunlight reserves the right to end the Sunlight Rewards® program at any time.
