Types of Stipulations

Stipulations are additional steps in the loan approval process that require action to move the loan approval process forward. Below is a list of every possible stipulation that can arise with an explanation of why it was triggered and how to resolve it.
- Most stipulations will occur at the point of signing (such as verifying the customer name on title) so it will be easy to resolve it when you are with the customer.
- Some stipulations will occur after the sale, such as needing to upload a sufficient copy of the final design documents.
Verification of income via tax return
We were unable to verify your income with any of Sunlight Financial's third-party verification methods or your income requires additional verification. Please provide a copy of the first 2 pages of your 2 most recent tax returns to verify your stated income.
Social Security Number on credit application doesn't match credit bureau data
According to the credit bureau, your social security number was mistyped by one or more digit(s) or requires additional verification. Please provide a copy of your Social Security card.
PTO/Proof of Interconnection
The PTO documentation received does not meet minimum requirements. Please provide evidence of PTO. Examples include a PTO letter from the utility, evidence of system activation, or a meter swap photo.
Verification of income via paystub or W2
We were unable to verify your income with any of Sunlight Financial's third-party verification methods or your income requires additional verification. Please provide a copy of your most recent paystub and/or W2 to verify your stated income.
Verification of mortgage details (mortgage not reporting to a credit bureau)
According to the credit bureau, your mortgage is not reporting. Please provide a copy of your most recent mortgage statement.
Installation photos
The installation photo(s) received does not meet minimum requirements: completed installation is fully visible. Please provide an updated installation photo(s).
Home improvement contract system cost is less than the amount being financed
The total loan amount is greater than the contract price listed on the home improvement contract/installation agreement. Please update the amount and work with your customer to provide an updated and signed loan agreement or an updated and signed home improvement contract/installation agreement.
Home improvement contract is not signed by the loan applicant
The received home improvement contract/installation agreement is not signed completely or is not signed using the customer's legal name. Please work with your customer to provide a completed and signed home improvement contract/installation agreement.
Home improvement contract address does not reasonably match loan agreement address
The address listed on the received home improvement contract/installation agreement does not reasonably match the loan agreement address or does not appear to be a valid address. Please update the address and work with your customer to provide an updated and signed home improvement contract/installation agreement. Sunlight Financial believes the address should be:
Borrower not on title of the installation address
You do not appear to be on the deed of the home or we cannot locate the property. Our lending guidelines only allow us to lend to owners of the subject property as evidenced by name on the title or deed. Please provide a copy of your title or deed.
Borrower address not found in Title Search
We are unable to match the installation address received to a title using legal land records. Please provide evidence that the installation address is associated with your title.
Verification of Identity via government-issued ID
The information entered for your government-issued ID does not match any of Sunlight Financial's third-party verification methods or requires additional verification. In order for Sunlight to comply with various Customer Identification Program requirements (including, but not limited to, the USA PATRIOT Act), we need to confirm the information you entered. Please provide a copy of your government-issued ID such as a driver's license or passport.
Date of birth on credit application doesn't match credit bureau data
The information entered on your credit application does not match any of Sunlight Financial's third-party verification methods or requires additional verification. In order for Sunlight to comply with various Customer Identification Program requirements (including, but not limited to, the USA PATRIOT Act), we will need to confirm your date of birth using a government-issued ID. Please provide a copy of a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport.
Final Design
The final design received does not meet the minimum requirements: the customer's name, address, module and inverter types, and kWh must be visible. Please provide updated final designs.
Country of Citizenship or Residency Status missing
The credit union membership application received is missing country of citizenship and/or the applicable residency status information. Please provide your country of citizenship. If you are a non-US citizen, please also confirm your residency status as either a.) lawful US permanent resident or b.) non-resident alien.
Verification of Identity via verbal PII confirmation
The information provided to confirm your identity does not adequately match any of Sunlight Financial's third-party verification methods or requires additional verification. In order for Sunlight to comply with various Customer Identification Program requirements (including, but not limited to, the USA PATRIOT Act), we need to verbally confirm your identity. Please call our customer support line at 888-850-3359 and reference this e-mail to confirm your identity.
Security statement is present on credit bureau
As part of your application for credit, Sunlight Financial has identified a Security Statement alert present on your credit bureau report. You may have placed a Security Statement with Experian or other credit bureau requiring lenders to obtain your consent prior to extending credit in your name. In order to help us protect your identity, please contact Sunlight to confirm the alert and provide consent to proceed with your application for credit.
Loan agreement not customer's legal name according to credit bureau
According to the credit bureau report, the name listed on the loan agreement is not the customer's legal name. We have updated the legal name and new documents are available for you to send for the customer's signature. Sunlight Financial believes the legal name should be:
Loan agreement address is incorrect or not a legal address
The address listed on the loan agreement does not match the installation address or does not appear to be a valid address. Sunlight Financial believes the address should be:_____. We have updated the address and new loan documents are available for you to send for the customer's signature.
Loan agreement not signed
According to our records, the loan agreement which the customer received via DocuSign was either declined or not signed properly. Please resend the loan agreement to your customer so they can complete the signing process.
Verification of previous employment, customer only stated "retired"
In your application for credit, you identified your current employer and/or position as "Retired". Please provide the name of your previous employer and position (i.e. job title) with that employer.
Loan agreement was signed at a sales representative's email address
The received loan agreement was completed at an email address that is associated with a sales representative. This is not acceptable. Please work with your customer to have them sign the loan agreement using their email address.
Driver's license illegible
The driver's license provided is not high enough quality to be fully legible. At your earliest convenience, can you kindly respond to this email with a higher quality photo copy of the driver's license so that we can move forward with the financing process?
Not a lend-able property
According to our records, the installation property provided does not appear to be a lendable property. Lendable properties include single-family homes, townhomes, rowhomes, and multi-family properties with 1-4 units. Ineligible properties include condominiums, mobile homes, modular homes, commercial properties and multi-family homes with 5+ units. Please provide evidence that your property is a lendable property type.
Verification of employment, customer only stated self-employed
In your application for credit, you identified your current employment as "Self-Employed." Please provide the company name, your position, and/or nature of work that you do.
Verification of employer stated on credit application
In your application for credit, you identified your current employment as "N/A" or you did not identify a current employer. Please provide the name of your current employer and/or your primary source of income.
Verification of position stated on credit application
In your application for credit, you identified your current employment position as "N/A" or you did not identify an employment position. Please provide the name of your position (i.e. job title) and/or your primary source of income.
Loan agreement required due to expired credit
Because your customer's credit has expired, we require a new loan agreement to be executed in order to proceed. Please generate a new loan agreement and work with your customer to provide a new signed copy.
